The Licenses page in the Babel Licensing Web Application provides a comprehensive interface to manage and monitor all software licenses in your system. This page displays licensing information in a tabular format, with each row representing a unique license entry. The interface allows you to view license details, track license activities, and perform various license management operations.
The main section of the page displays a grid of licenses with the following columns:
License Id: A unique identifier for each license (e.g., lic929CEF...)
Licensee: The name of the organization or individual who holds the license (e.g., MABRI.VISION)
Issue Date: The date when the license was issued (format: YYYY-MM-DD)
Type: Indicates the deployment environment (Server, Cloud, Enterprise, Corporate)
Mode: Shows the license type (Activation, Floating, File)
Sites: The number of allowed installations or activations (e.g., 50, 1)
Revoked: Indicates whether the license has been revoked or is still active (shown with a lock icon)
Format: The format of the license (not shown in current view, but available in the filter panel)
Expire Date: The date when the license expires (not visible in the current view)
Support Expire Date: The date when technical support for the license expires
End Date: The final date when the license becomes invalid
Created At: The timestamp when the license was initially created in the system
Updated At: The timestamp when the license was last modified
Customer: The customer account associated with the license
Order: The purchase order reference linked to this license
Template: The license template used to generate this license
Each license entry has several action buttons that allow you to:
Edit (pencil icon): Modify license details
Delete (trash can icon): Remove the license
Download (download icon): Download the license file (for File type licenses)
View Details (double arrow icon): Expand to see additional license information
Revocation Toggle (lock icon): Revoke or activate a license
Tracing (pin icon): Enable or disable activity tracking for a license
When you select a license, the system displays two tabs:
LICENSE: Shows detailed information about the selected license
ACTIVITY: Displays a map and details about license usage, including:
Geographic location (Latitude/Longitude)
IP address
Client name
Machine ID
Physical address
Date and time of activities
Number of activities
All licenses are displayed in the main grid by default
Use the search fields at the top of each column to filter licenses by that specific criterion
Use the more comprehensive filter panel on the right for advanced filtering
Click on column headers to sort the list by that column
Use the refresh button (circular arrow) to update the license list
Creating a new license:
Click the "+ ADD" button at the top of the grid
Fill in the required license information in the form that appears
Save the new license
Editing a license:
Click the edit (pencil) icon on the license row you want to modify
Update the license details in the form that appears
Save your changes
Deleting a license:
Click the delete (trash can) icon on the license row
Confirm the deletion when prompted
Viewing license details:
Click on a license row to see its detailed information in the bottom panel
The LICENSE tab shows the license properties
The ACTIVITY tab shows usage information and geographic data
Downloading a license file:
For File type licenses, click the download icon to obtain the license file
Revoking a license:
Click the lock icon to toggle the revocation status of a license
A closed lock indicates a revoked license that cannot be used
An open lock indicates an active license
Tracking license activity:
Click the pin icon to enable or disable activity tracking for a license
Viewing activity data:
Select a license and navigate to the ACTIVITY tab
View the map showing the geographic locations where the license has been used
Review the detailed activity log showing:
IP address of the client
Machine ID of the device using the license
Client name identifier
Physical location (city, country)
Precise latitude and longitude coordinates
Managing activity records:
Use the refresh button (circular arrow) in the activity panel to update the data
Use the trash icon to delete activity records
Navigate between activity records using the arrow buttons
The Licenses page offers powerful search and filtering options:
Quick column filters: Each column has a search field that filters the list based on that column's values
Date filters: Date columns have calendar pickers to select date ranges
Dropdown filters: Columns like Mode and Type have dropdown selectors for their values
Advanced filter panel: The right sidebar contains comprehensive filtering options for all license attributes
The Edit License screen allows you to create or modify an existing license's details and settings. This screen is divided into several sections that control different aspects of the license.
At the top of the form, you can select the license template that will define the base parameters for this license. In the example, "ACME Charting 1.8.0.0 Template" is selected. A template provides predefined settings that serve as a starting point for the license.
This section contains the core license identifiers:
License Id: The unique identifier for this license (e.g., "lic929CEF80")
This section defines the operational parameters of the license:
Mode: Determines how the license is deployed:
Activation: The license is activated on specific machines
Floating: Multiple machines can share the license
File: The license is distributed as a file
Sites: The number of installations or activations permitted (50 in the example)
License Type: Categorizes the license (e.g., "Server")
Format: The format in which the license is issued (e.g., "Ascii")
Issue Date: When the license was created (2024-11-14 17:12:58)
Expire Date: When the license will expire (2024-12-14 17:13:00)
Support Expire Date: When technical support for this license ends
Revoked: Toggle to revoke the license, preventing further use
Trace: Toggle to enable tracking of license usage and activities
Description: An optional field for additional notes about the license
This section captures information about the license holder:
Select a customer: Dropdown to choose from existing customers
Name: The individual's name associated with the license
Company: The organization name (MABRI.VISION)
Email: Contact email for the licensee (michael.scheiterer@mabri.vision)
This tabbed section includes details about the components covered by the license:
Lists the software assemblies included in this license with their details:
Name: Assembly name (analysis, charting, web)
Version: Software version (1.8.0.0)
Culture: Localization setting (neutral)
Public Key Token: Cryptographic identifier (45cd17b5db21e42)

This section allows you to add and configure limitations for the license:
TRIAL: Restricts the license to a trial period
Expire Days: How many days the trial will last (30)
Run Instances: Limits simultaneous installations
Run Count: Maximum number of times the software can be launched
Run Time: Maximum duration the software can be used
USAGE: (Available but not currently configured)
Terms: Additional licensing terms and conditions
SAVE: Commits all changes to the license
CANCEL: Discards changes and returns to the previous screen
This screen provides comprehensive control over license configuration, allowing administrators to precisely define how software can be used, for how long, and by whom.
Use the filter panel to quickly locate licenses by customer, expiration date, or license mode
Enable activity tracking (pin icon) for important licenses to monitor their usage
Regularly review the activity logs to detect any unusual or unauthorized usage patterns
Check the Sites column to ensure you're not exceeding your licensed capacity
Use the Type filter to group licenses by environment (Server, Cloud, Enterprise, Corporate)
Monitor Expire Date and Support Expire Date to plan for renewals
Use the Revoke function to immediately disable licenses when needed
