To leverage Babel Licensing on your WordPress site, the installation of the Babel Licensing WordPress plugin introduces a new custom post type: Licensed Product.

This role is fundamental, as it bridges WordPress to Babel Licensing's functionalities. Follow these steps to integrate and use Babel Licensing effectively:

  1. Create or Assign a Licensed Product: Within WordPress, you can either create a new Licensed Product or assign an existing one. This product will be what you aim to sell in your online shop.

  2. Select Product Type: When you select "Licensed Product" from the Product data combobox, the Babel Licensing tab will become accessible.

  3. Link Your Product to Babel Licensing: To link a WordPress product with its corresponding entry in the Babel Licensing database, navigate to the Babel Licensing tab. There, locate and select the appropriate product from the dropdown menu labeled "Babel product.

To apply your modifications, click the Update button located within the Publish section.

Licensing Product

After linking the Licensed Product to the Babel Product, you gain the ability to directly edit the product from the Licensing > Product menu. Navigate to this page to view a grid of all products stored in the Babel Licensing database. Products that are successfully linked to a WordPress product will have an active 'Edit' button. Conversely, products that are not linked will have the 'Edit' button disabled.

By adhering to these steps, you'll successfully integrate Babel Licensing Product with your WordPress site, enabling you to handle digital product licensing effortlessly.

Product Edit

To edit a Babel Licensing Product, click the edit icon in the grid. This action opens the Edit Product page. Here, you can:

  • Assign an existing license template to the product.

  • Sign keys for the edited product.

  • Bind schedule actions to emails, enabling automatic notifications to end customers based on specific events (see: Emails).

Bind Email To Actions

You can set up automated email notifications in your system by binding schedule actions to an email template. This means when a specific event occurs, the system automatically compiles and dispatches an email to either the licensee or the customer. This automation ensures timely communication without manual intervention. To learn more about creating email templates, please refer to the Email section.

To link an action to an existing email template, simply click the plus (+) button located above the Actions then follow these steps:

  1. In the Action dropdown, select the event you wish to associate with an email.

  2. From the Email dropdown, choose your desired email template.

  3. Ensure the Enabled checkbox is marked to activate sending.

  4. Click the save icon next to the corresponding input row to save your changes.

Actions

Different actions can be connected to specific templates to make notification and response handling more efficient. Use these actions to improve communication and workflow.

  • License Issued: This action sends a new product license to the customer after purchase.

  • License Expiring: Reminder sent before the expiration of an existing license.

  • License Expired: Notification sent when a user's license has expired.

  • License Revoked: Alert for when a license is terminated by the provider.

  • Support Expiring: Reminder for upcoming expiration of support services.

  • Support Expired: Notification sent when support services have ended.

  • Trial Started: Notification sent when a user begins a trial period of a service or product.

  • Trial Terminated: Notification for the end of a trial period before conversion to a paid plan.

Each of these actions is designed to ensure users and administrators are fully informed throughout the lifecycle of service usage and licensing.

Product Attributes

Within the product data, the Attributes tab allows for further customization of the Licensed Product. Here, you can define attributes for use in email templates. To ensure an attribute does not appear on the product page, uncheck the "Visible on the product page" checkbox.
